WHAT IS YIJIAO?
THE HISTORY
THE RULES
移交 | Yijiao. The chinese word for "transfer". Yijiao is a cult made up of rogues who have chosen to become assassins and bounty hunters, guided under the leadership of two cats, and the belief in two cats as their god.
THE HISTORY
Moons ago, there were loosely-connected bands of cats, cats would would take on occasional assassinations or bounties for payment, to help themselves survive. Two of the better known cats were named De and Zaide, partners who became living legends for their skills. Then came a day when a single cat gathered together the band of cats to create a single cult, worshiping these two legendary partners, declaring them gods. So, the cats gathered together, organizing themselves and making a name for themselves and their abilities.
THE RULES
01 | Cats from anywhere may go to Yijiao to make a contract. Though some Yijiao cats will take contracts for free, usually a form of payment is expected for the level the task is ranked, ranging anywhere from some fresh-kill to young kits to raise and train.
02 | In the way of family, friends, and mates, Yijiao is very open with their cats. Cats may regularly visit friends and family outside of the cult if they choose, and are permitted to have a mate outside of the cult. However, the only taboo associated with this rule is that any kits, including half-Yijiao kits, must be given an opportunity to train in their ranks. If this opportunity is not provided, it is viewed as a loss of new blood and is a punishable act.
03 | Yijiao cats may not have Clan names unless they were formerly a Clan cat. This is a band of rogues, so give them a creative name to reflect such!
| Teller x_ Yijiao's teller serves many of the same functions that a Clan leader would, but holds more parallels to the Healer of the Tribe of Rushing Water. Yijiao's leader is meant to lead the Clan from the cave, assigning contracts and keeping conflicts down. They will typically only take high ranking assassin or bounty hunter contracts. |
vice x_ In many ways, the vice is the Yijiao's version of a Clan deputy. A vice is a cat who is next in line for leadership, and controls other duties that the leader delegates to them. Vices are also expected to maintain regular assassin and bounty hunter duties, and preform any leadership tasks when the leader is, otherwise, unavailable. |
| the gods x_the symbolic Yijiao was founded by one cat's belief that two cats were living gods. This cat gathered other followers and created the cult, where the view that these two cats would be seen as gods in both life and death. Gods are not the leaders of Yijiao, and do not participate in any leadership duties. They are simply assassins and bounty hunters of legendary ability. The current gods are Zaide and De, partners who became divided and left the cult for many long moons, only to return. |
assassins and bounty hunters x_ In Yijiao, cats have two different varieties of contracts to fulfill: assassinations and bounties. While most cats prefer one type of contract to the other, some cats choose to do both duties. Assassin's jobs are typically to hunt a cat down and kill them, where a bounty hunters is typically to find a cat and drag them back to Yijiao's cave to retrieve payment. |
| apprentices x_ Young cats in training to become bounty hunters and assassins are apprentices, though they differ from the Clan apprentices. Though they learn to hunt and patrol borders, their main lessons are how to bring cats back to the cave for a bounty, and how to kill future targets. Most Yijiao apprentices are promoted between eleven and fourteen moons of age, depending on their progression. |
queens and kits x_ The jobs of queens and kits is pretty straight forward: raise and be raised. A queen is any cat expecting or raising a litter of kits, or a she-cat who's decided to be a permanent queen, despite not currently having kits of their own. Queens are not responsible for hunting or fighting, as the cult would rather focus on healthy, strong kits. The kits' job is to just to grow up before they can begin their apprenticeship. Yijiao kits start training at six moons old. |
| Elders x_ The elders are, well, the elderly cats of Yijiao. Though they may no longer fulfill contracts, they are permitted to hunt if they so desire, though their main task is to help settle contract disputes and pass on Yijiao traditions and stories. Elders will often treat cats for their injuries with their combined knowledge of herbs. |
